European Masters Ultimate Championships 2023

Introduction

This is the call for bids for the European Ultimate Masters Championships (EUMC) in the divisions Open Masters, Women Masters, Mixed Masters and Open Grand Masters.

The EUF Championship in the Masters divisions is played every 4 years. The last one was in Madrid 2019.

The EUF Board has decided to hold the Masters divisions separate in time and location from the divisions without age limits. This brings not only logistical advantages but offers the masters divisions much more space and visibility.

Time Line:

Aug. 31th: -> Dec. 2021     Declaration of interest to host

Oct. 30th: -> March 2022   Bid complete, provisional budget

Dec. 2021: -> Q2 2022  Bid selection

Contact:

All mails shall be sent to office@ultimatefederation.eu

Tournament length:

4 days

Date:

Wished date: Oct. 12th – Oct 15th 2023 (Alternatively the week after)

Alternative Dates: please inform us which options would be available

Number of Teams:

It is hard to say how many Masters National Teams there will be in 2023.

The EUMC 2019 in Madrid had 27 teams in total: 9 Open Masters, 6 Women Masters, 8 Mixed Masters and 4 Open Grand Masters.

EUF plans with slightly higher attendance.

The Bidders should be able to scale down the costs in case lesser teams will attend.

Number of Players:

In the previous events, the average number of players was around 20.

Venue:

6 WFDF-regular fields for 4 days of play are required for the max. expected number. If less teams will register, the number of needed fields should be reduced, in order to sink the fixed costs

A WFDF-regular field measures 100m x 37m + 5m restraint lines around it. WFDF-conform field size (90m x 33m + 3m restrain lines) is tolerated but should not be the standard. Please provide the size of the single fields in your bid.

Please provide a plan in case of rain (e.g. additional fields available, turf fields, etc.)

Football goals must be removed or protected, for the safety of the players. Having all pitches on 1 site is an asset.

Having a grandstand for showcase games is an asset.

Please add in the bid a google map link of the venue(s) and describe the grass quality.

Staff/Volunteers:

Please consider at least 2 Person per field plus at least 3-4 persons to manage schedule, spirit-scorings, volunteers, etc.

Accommodation:

It is expected that most teams will take care of the accommodation themselves.

Please indicate if you plan to offer central accommodation.

If you organize an accommodation (e.g. camping near the fields) breakfasts must be provided for this accommodation.

Please add in the bid a google map link of the accommodation and the distance to the venue(s).

Food:

Warm Dinners are highly recommended at least in the evenings of the showcase games (probably on the 2nd and 3rd day).

Drinking water must be available at each pitch.

Please indicate where and how you plan to provide meals and the indicative costs.

Reachability:

Indicate how the tournament location can be reached (distance to airports, public transportation system,…).

Social Events:

Please shortly describe the plan for the social events.

Being Nov. 1st a holiday in most countries, the (Halloween?!?) party should be planned on Oct. 31st.

Media Visibility:

EUF plans to stream from 1 field every day. A stable 10 Mbs Upload internet connection (better if via Ethernet since 4G is not really reliable) is needed, as well as an overhead camera position (grand stand, scaffold, etc.)

Please indicate if and how you plan to increase the tournament visibility and which budget you reserve for this.

Gifts/Trophies:

Medals will be provided through EUF.

Spirit of the Game will be covered by the EUF merchandize Partner.

Winner Trophies must be covered by the tournament budget or by sponsors.

A tournament gift per player is not necessary and should be considered only if covered by a sponsor.

First Aid

First Aid-Kit must be available at the fields. Medical staff and/or physiotherapists are recommended. Fix ambulance at the fields is an asset.

Please describe, which is your physiotherapy and medical plan.

Budget:

For the budget plan, please use the EUF template.

We want to make clear that people, who work hard on these events, should receive some reasonable payment, nevertheless management costs should be kept to the minimum.

The EUF committee wants to make sure that it is able to get very clear visibility of all the costs, that costs are reasonable, and that we help make sure players don’t pay for things that they might prefer not to have if given the choice.
