Summer Tour Preview: Mixed
The 2024 Mixed division is a wild one. We have seen a lot of movement in the ranking, and more results are coming in. Here, you can see the ranking evolution from June 26th to July 15th.
The Summer Tours promise more upsets and action, so be sure to follow the action and stay up to date with the In or Out show.

BIRMINGHAM-GBR
3rd and 4th of August with only 5 teams in attendance (with their present ranking):

The 5 teams will play round-robin to determine the last placement games.
This tournament will be UK Nationals revisited, this time with only the best 5 teams. Deep Space from London should be the winner, according to UK Nationals, early this month, but it will play with a very different roster due to National Team restrictions going into WUC, which might shake up the rankings in Mixed quite a bit. UK Finalists Reading (Reading) are also in contention; perhaps last year’s UK’s runner-up and Elite Invite ‘24 winner Lemmings from Leamington Spa can nullify the wildcard for this summer tour. BN1 from Brighton needs to seriously outperform their current ranking to get their bid for EUCF.
Unfortunately, due to logistic issues, we won’t see this tournament on the screen. Ravi Vasudevan will try to get some comments from the fields to report on the In or Out show on Monday after the event.

The teams will start in pools of 3 where the second and third places teams will crossover for the Top 8 bracket spots and continue the knockout phase there.
Mathematically this will be the hardest of all Summer Tours to get the wild card, with the most teams present. At first sight, the final in Freiburg should be an interesting clash between Munich’s Tiefseetaucher and Sesquidistus from Strasbourg. However, perhaps the Padova Rangers can cause an upset in the semis. Freiburg’s DISConnection and Nullacht! from Münster seem to be okay on 11th and 12th, but still aren’t safe, so they should be fighting for every point in every game. Heck from Edinburgh and Zoom from Istanbul are both a long way from home, and only a very good tourney could give them enough points to climb up in the ranking.

With 11 teams, we will start with two uneven pools and one placement game, leaving little chance for recovery.
The Mosquitos from Klosterneuburg in Austria (who, as of late, have their own ultimate fields and clubhouse!) had a great Spring Tour and, since then, stayed comfortably high in the ranking. To challenge them, Pelt comes all the way from Limerick, Ireland, to take valuable ranking points. And don’t count out Turbulence from Tartu, Estonia. They will have had lots of outdoor practices in mid-August and should be a force to reckon with, more than at Elite Invite in May. Heroes Flying Disc from Budapest is in danger at 16th place and will need very good results to get a bid for EUCF. Home team Sky This and Malmö Ultimate have to fight to secure enough points.
